What’s My Story?
I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember, but my love for writing took off thanks to my mom and my sixth-grade teacher. It happened when I wrote an essay on Leonardo da Vinci. Not only was I intrigued by all the areas in which da Vinci excelled, but I also learned that writing about a topic you love is one of the keys to success.
Thanks to my dad lending me his camera, the da Vinci essay also included photographs. My mom’s years of teaching me how to draw were incorporated as well.
That experience led me to the realization that writing could include images.
In second grade, a teacher with infinite patience taught me how to play the piano and to read and write music. You guessed it: da Vinci inspired me to write one of my first songs.
To tie it all together, I had been experimenting with stop-motion filmmaking using my dad’s 8mm movie camera.
Da Vinci became my second five-minute film, a big step forward compared to my first film, Ollie the Octopus and Space Station Alpha.
